June the 19th, 2008. An ordinary day to most people was possibly one of the most special days in my Aunt Irene's life. After years of hesitation, backsliding and fear, my Aunt finally decided to get baptized. My Aunt had always wanted to be a Christian, although Grandma gave her the beating of her life upon hearing the news of her new found faith when she was a teenager. After years of backsliding in Taipei, she finally decided that it was time. The initial plan was to get baptized in Singapore, her homeland. Daddy approached Pastor Jimmy to request if Aunt Irene could be baptized in Bethel Presbyterian Church and as expected, Aunt Irene had to go through the membership classes but that would have been impossible, her stay here couldn't allow that. Thankfully, Bartley Christian Church agreed to baptize Aunt Irene at our home. It was a beautiful ceremony that only close friends attended and I praise God for finally granting my Aunty's life long dream. |
